Background
Intellectual property (IP) is a valuable business asset SMEs have because it provides companies with comparative advantage over competitors at the market and is vital for attracting investments. Appropriate IP protection and management is the basis of successful market access to China. Likewise, poorly managed IP could mean the end of SMEs’ business endeavors.
A good way for SMEs to design their own IP strategy is by learning from others’ mistakes. There are many common mistakes that SMEs tend to make when entering China’s market and learning from those mistakes helps to save companies valuable time and cost of going through those mistakes themselves.
During this webinar, our IP Business Advisor Mr. Matias Zubimendi will cover the most common assumptions, misconceptions and mistakes that SMEs make related to IP when operating in China or doing business with China. To explain how to avoid the common IP-related pitfalls in China, Mr. Zubimendi will focus on issues like business culture, differences in IP systems between Europe and China as well as IP-related laws and regulations that SMEs should be aware of. Mr. Zubimendi will include various case studies of best practice and will provide tips and watch-outs of what to do and what not to do. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the webinar allowing SMEs to pose questions to the speaker.

Advisory Council Policy
Members of the Advisory Council may receive complimentary admission to Chamber seminars, conferences and factory visits up to two attendees per event. Additional participants will be charged at the member rate.
Advisory Council members will still be charged the standard member rate for participation in training courses and special events, such as gala balls, government appreciation dinners, or admission to corporate social events/tournaments.
