The European Union Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to a one-day training on building & developing high performing teams. This training is designed for both existing and newly created managers/ leaders. The course focuses on mastering the major aspects of successful teams such as e.g. defining a clear vision and aligning people around major team objectives, assigning accurately accountabilities, understanding subsequent team development stages, team roles and thinking styles diversity for the high performance. Moreover, the course is based on the Extended DISC ® model that helps to better understand people’s natural and adaptive preferences while thinking, communicating, leading, motivating etc. A complex approach to the development of high performing teams makes this course specifically valuable in the times of the constant change and war for talents.
Introduction
High performing teams are “must of the day” for any successful business performance. People seek to be part of the “dream team” in where they can realise their ambitions and do tasks they have always wanted to do; they are successfully encouraged to accomplish “impossible” with a smile on the face and with a feeling that “what seemed impossible became possible”. This team type makes their work fun, exciting and adventure every day.
“Dream teams” are made of people who are distinct individuals. They work for various reasons, have different ambitions and styles of work, might value different things in life and present different natural preferences in the way they do their job, think, communicate etc. In general, the more diverse behavioural styles presented by the team members, the more opportunities but also the more complexity to be skilfully managed. Extended DISC ® is a behavioural instrument that helps to diagnose team members’ natural preferences vs their adaptive styles while communicating and interacting with others, getting motivated and motivating others, playing a specific team role etc.
Mapping individual preferences of the team members, both natural and adaptive, helps to easily diagnose and address the team’s strengths and challenges, accordingly. Extended DISC ® recognises 160 different behavioural styles which are the combinations of the four basic styles: Dominance (D – style), Influence (I – style), Steadiness (S – style) and Conscientious (C – style). The distance between the natural style and adaptive style says the gap and effort one needs to put in e.g. doing the current job. The overall exercise may lead to constructive discussions resulting in individual and / or team related development / improvement plans.
“Dream teams” require to be continuously improved and nurtured in a disciplined and systematic way. This course will help to put this approach in practice.
Overview of the training
The course entails one day workshop plus 30’ Extended Disc Personal analysis feedback delivered by the certified consultant to each participant. Each participant is asked to fill in an on-line Personal Analysis Extended Disc survey a few days before the course. It shall not take more than 8-10 minutes. Respondents are advised to find a quiet place and asked others not to disrupt them while they are filling up the survey. This is a fundamental part of the course which is “a must be” to participate actively in the workshop.
The course focuses on the major characteristics of the “dream team” complimented with the Extended Disc ® model. In the first part of the workshop we define the prerequisites of a “dream team” and discuss its major components. In the second part of the workshop we focus on people and their preferences (natural and adaptive) while conducting an individual analysis of the personal natural and adaptive styles. Then, we create a team map of personal individual behavioural styles and analyse how this impacts a dream team development addressing various team challenges such as e.g.: effective communication, employee motivation, problem solving, trust building, delivering complete results on time.
As an integral element of the package each participant is offered 30’ individual feedback session based on the Extended Disc ®personal analysis report which will follow on the next day after the course.
How you will benefit:
· Define components and attributes of a “dream team”
· Take Extended DISC ® survey (on-line survey to be completed before the workshop)
