IPR Working Group Meeting: IP Protection in China’s Digital Economy

The global pandemic has further accelerated the digital transformation of businesses resulting in increased reliance on e-commerce platforms, boom in the AI-related industries and digitalisation of production and delivery processes. With digitalisation of businesses, consumption too has increasingly moved online. Intellectual property (IP) is crucial to digital economy as it drives innovation and provides SMEs with comparative advantage over competitors. While digital economy brings about new IP risks like online infringements, it also creates new solutions for IP protection such as the use of blockchain technologies or reliance on sophisticated notice and take-down systems on e-commerce platforms or even the use of internet courts speeding up IP enforcement procedures. To be successful in digital economy, SMEs should focus on protecting their IP by adopting a comprehensive IP strategy taking into account the needs of digital economy.

Manufacturing companies didn't need to worry about marketing a decade ago. They produced the best possible products and hired good salespeople to sell them. And that was about it.
If manufacturers even thought about marketing, it was as sales support: organizing trade show giveaways, creating sell sheets, buying ad space in trade magazines and making sure the website looked halfway decent.
Essentially, marketing was not a focus, and it was often treated as an afterthought.
But the world of buying and selling has changed. 94% of B2B buyers are now doing their own research online before they even want to engage with a manufacturing company's salespeople.
So, ready or not, marketing has become a new necessity manufacturers.

Road Map of Kaizen

How Kaizen philosophy has spread throughout the world and has been applied to environments inside and outside the business as well as productivity? How to solve one ‘’basic issue’’ in your company?

Kaizen, first practiced in Japanese businesses, is a concept referring to business activities that continuously improve all functions and involve all employees from the CEO to the assembly line workers. Currently, aiming to eliminate waste (lean manufacturing), we can see Kaizen has been put into use mainly in the supply chain, such as purchasing and logistics. Besides, it also applies to healthcare, psychotherapy, life coaching, government, and banking.
