To prevent severe climate change, a further acceleration of the global transition to a low-carbon economy, with a global average temperature rise of less than 1.5°C/2°C above pre-industrial levels by 2100, will require an ambitious reduction target to ensure that the transition actions are consistent with those required by climate science.
