Featuring Representatives from:
* The Overseas Construction Association of Japan, Inc (OCAJI)
* The Commercial Section of the US Embassy in Beijing (TBC)
In an effort to open dialogue and coordinate positions with key American stakeholders in the field of construction, we are pleased to welcome representatives from the Overseas Construction Association of Japan, Inc., and the Commercial Section of the American Embassy in Beijing (TBC) at next Friday?? Construction Working Group meeting.
Discussion will focus on areas of cooperation between the EU, Japanese and American approaches to current regulations. With updates from the EU Delegation?? Trade Section on their recent meeting with the Ministry of Construction (MOC), our Working Group Chairman will provide a debriefing on the EUCCC?? bilateral meeting with MOFCOM which took place 8 November. It would seem that MOC is adapting regulations in ways that are consistent with the Position Paper?? recommendations ??primarily in relation to reducing capital requirements in certain cases ??but, perhaps less encouraging, in possibly unfavourable ways ??notably on project management and qualification issues. Establishing a platform for direct dialogue between the Working Group and Chinese contractors will also be explored.
Please confirm your attendance on nruble@euccc.com by Wednesday, 24 November. Feel free to email your comments ahead of the meeting should you have specific issues that you would like to see raised with the Working Group.
