European Chamber, PRD Chapter invites members to the conference organized by China Customs, Delegation of the European Union to China and the European Chamber, PRD Chapter on enforcement of IPR by customs.
Continued growth in trade between the EU and China brings considerable benefits to both sides but also risks from trade in illicit goods. IPR infringing goods are of particular concern to both sides. Customs are one of the key authorities which need to take action. They oversee all international trade between China and the EU and have a direct responsibility to prevent illicit goods from entering or leaving their respective territories. In the case of IPR goods this involves specifically stopping in accordance with their respective applicable legislation, fakes at import, export, in transit or transhipment. Customs seizures of fakes show the importance of this work but also that it only provides a partial solution to the prevention of trade in fakes.
