Dear members,
The upsurge of research and pilot development of digital fiat currencies in the globe is bringing a visible revolution in future payment, settlement, transaction, and circulation world. Since 2014, research taskforce on digital currencies was set up by PBoC to shape the design concept of e-cny as well as to explore/enrich its application scenarios.
As a centralized, tokenized and encripted digital fiat, featured by transaction records traceable, the issuance of the new form of Chinese yuan, as one complementary source for M0, will have a profound chain-effect to commercial banks and other financial institutes, for instance shifting to new eco-models in network scenes, while the values of being interoperable also outstands in global banking, especially when different countries are developing different digital fiat currency platforms with various characteristics (NFC supported for instance), and when cross border financing/transaction a characteristic business foreign banks have in China.
Under the backdrop, the Banking and Securities working group feel honored to invite Mr. Eric Yang, Head of Business Innovation of SWIFT, Shanghai, to deliver a specialized talk on “Connecting Digital Island- SWIFT‘s Experiments on CBDC‘s Interoperability”.
The event will be on 28th February, 2023, 14:00-15:00 pm, ONLINE.
