Course Objectives 课程目标

There is no doubt that COVID-19 has brought on many challenges and uncertainty, this holds true as business regulations need continuously adapt to constant changes in government policies leaving many wondering how to best navigate this new environment. This course is designed to assist executives to better understand how the Chinese government works, gain an overview of the policy-making process, and analyze the impact of the macro regulatory environment on enterprises operating in China.  During this course the trainer will also discuss the trends in policy development and how to build effective communication channels with key stakeholders from the Chinese government in order for businesses to advocate more effectively and to establish a more positive corporate image and achieve a win-win cooperation with the Chinese government.

1. Evolution of Professional Government Affairs - From Tactics to Strategy 专业化政府事务的演变 – 从战术到战略

• The evolution process and developing direction of MNCs’ Government Affairs work in China 跨国公司政府事务在中国的演进过程和发展方向
• Strategic thinking about government affairs under the constantly evolving political and economic situation 在不断发展的政治经济新形势下，战略性地思考政府事务

2. Policy Research based on Government Relations 以政策研究为基础的政府关系

• External Stakeholder Mapping and Internal Stakeholder Management and Communication 外部利益相关方结构与内部利益相关方管理和沟通
• Systematic and professional government relations network building to achieve  business objective 通过建立系统专业的政府关系网络来实现业务目标

3. Government Relations based on Policy Research 以政府关系为基础的政策研究

• Monitoring: Monitor the developments of key policies and navigating the regulatory direction 监测：通过对政策信息的方向性把控，有效地监测相关政策的发展
• Analysis: Understanding policy-making procedures, read between the lines, and come up with an impact analysis accordingly 分析：通过理解政策出台的过程，以及政策条文的深刻含义，做出对企业的影响分析
• Reporting: Provide strategic development recommendations to senior executives based on analysis findings 报告：结合公司的业务情况，为高层提出发展建议

Brent Yuan joined Yuan Associates in January 2010 and become a partner in January 2017.
As the Senior Director for Yuan Associates, Mr. Yuan is responsible for client services in across multiple sectors like manufacturing, chemical, agriculture, consumer goods, services, pharmaceuticals, and IT, etc. Mr. Yuan focuses his energy on helping international clients to promote corporate reputation and address operational challenges, specializing in government relations and external communications. Since July 2016, Mr. Yuan has been the firm’s key trainer for the Government Affairs Training Program of the American Chamber of Commerce and the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Beijing, which has received massive positive recognition after years of operation.
Mr. Yuan has valuable experience working with multinational companies, concentrating in public relations, branding, crisis management, and media relations from ten years of professional experience in relevant fields at both media outlets and multinational enterprises. Before joining Yuan Associates, Mr. Yuan worked as a public communication supervisor to several multinational enterprises, including BMW and Amway. Prior to working in the public relations sector, Mr. Yuan started his career as a reporter for China Construction Machinery magazine, during which time he interviewed over 40 presidents of multinational companies.
Mr. Yuan holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Beijing International Studies University.
