With the rapid development of China’s digital economy, tax authorities are gradually shifting the tax administrative model from ex-ante approval to ex-post management. The adoption of new technology tools not only enables taxpayers to deal with tax matters online, it also empowers tax authorities to identify tax risks more accurately through big data analysis.

Marilyn Lu is Tax Partner at Deloitte, where she leads the Tax Management Consulting service for Northern China. She has a broad and diverse 20-year work experience in tax compliance and consulting. She has been working at Deloitte for over 10 years, in its Beijing tax departments and Vancouver offices. Marilyn leads many tax digitization projects for clients such as Schneider, Legend Holding, SAP, CITIC group, Yili Group, etc.

Marilyn also worked in industry for many years. She was the group tax director of Netease in charge of global tax management and worked at Maersk as the tax head of North Asia. Marilyn was responsible for group restructuring, the establishment of the group holding structure and the conclusion of the bilateral Advanced Pricing Agreement and Mutual Agreement Process between Chinese and Danish tax authorities, applying various preferential tax treatments.

Marilyn is a CICPA, Australian CPA and CTA.
