With growing amounts of data being collected and generated, the automotive industry is becoming increasingly data driven, and therefore subject to the comprehensive data regulatory framework that the Cyberspace Administration of China and other government agencies are currently developing.
Against this backdrop, the European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the fourth session of our Cybersecurity Compliance Series: Data Protection in Automotive Industry, taking place on Tuesday 25 June, from 16h to 18h at the European Chamber’s Beijing office. We will have the pleasure to meet with two experts on data security: Ning Xuanfeng, senior partner at King & Wood Mallesons and He Yanzhe from China Electronics Standardisation Institute (CESI).
At this meeting, Ning will elaborate on the keys and difficulties of complying with data collection and use requirements in the automotive industry. He Yanzhe, one of the lead drafters of various Chinese data protection and cross-border data transfer standards, will give an introduction to recent developments relating to national data protection regulations and standards and their application in the automotive industry. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.

The Cybersecurity Law promulgated on 7th November 2016 became effective on 1st June 2017, and has significant ramifications for the business community. It is so far-reaching that almost all industries are impacted. With the Chinese Government intensifying its efforts in developing relevant implementing rules, some cybersecurity schemes have already started to take shape.
