On the kick off section, we are to brief you the work of 2018. With your help, we are to settle the yearly plan structure of the Chamber. You are entitled with the power to decide what you are going to see in the Shenyang chapter in 2019. 在启动仪式部分，沈阳分会将会带您回顾2018年的工作，并制定2019年的计划。您可以参与商会的工作计划，提出您的建议。希望有您的建议，商会可以为您提供更好的服务！
A panel discussion will be carried out among distinguished speakers on the most meaningful subjects about the city! There will be a lot to take away！极富意义的议题将会由尊贵的嘉宾们在小组讨论部分展开。您将有所收获！
This year’s Board Election is the chance to create and contribute to the promising future of Shenyang Chapter at the annual general meeting. This is a chance, for you as member, to give your voice on the European Chamber in 2019 and 2020. Your vote is important! If you are interested, you are welcome to run for the election as well!

Who can run for elections?
(Area Board elections)
1. Chair (1 position) – Any representative of a corporate member of the European Chamber
2. Vice Chair (1 position) - Any representative of a corporate member of the European Chamber
3. Board Member – Any representative of a corporate member of the European Chamber and any individual member

Who can vote?
You can vote at the elections if you:
1.a Are a designated representative (the main contact between the European Chamber and your company), or
1.b Are an individual member and
2.Paid the membership fee for the year 2019 (please make sure that the Chamber has received and confirmed your membership payment by no later than [25th March 2019].

How can I vote?
You are welcome to cast your vote either in person or designating a proxy to vote on your behalf. Please see below more information regarding each voting modality
In person by secret ballot at the election venue. Please note that even if you have voting rights confirmed by the Secretariat of the Chamber, you must have registered for the AGM in order to exercise this vote.

How can I run for elections?
The nomination period is now open until 22nd March
If you would like to run for (Local Board) Chair, Vice Chair or Board member, you need to:1) Be nominated by two designated representatives of other members eligible to vote (please refer to the above section “who can vote and run for elections?”)2) Fill in and sign the Nomination Form. The nomination form must also be signed by both the proposer and the seconder, who must be members in good standing (with paid dues).
3) Send the nomination form scanned by e-mail to Ms. Marine Chen at mchen@europeanchamber.com.cn, or in person at the Chamber office in Shenyang by 22nd March.
4) Provide a short bio, and motivation letter scanned by e-mail to Ms. Marine Chen at mchen@europeanchamber.com.cn or in person at the Chamber office in Shenyang by by 22nd March. A motivational video may also be requested as well.

Mr. Gregory May
Gregory May was a Special Assistant in the Office of the Under Secretary for Political Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Prior to his current assignment, he was a Senior Watch Officer in the Department's Operations Center and the Bilateral Political Unit Chief in the Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs. From August 2011 until August 2013 he served as the Senior Desk Officer for Vietnam. From July 2007 until June 2011, Mr. May was assigned to the Political Section of the United States Embassy in Beijing. His previous overseas assignments include Guangzhou, China and Rome, Italy.
Prior to entering the Foreign Service in 2000, Mr. May served as Assistant Director and Research Associate in Chinese Studies at The Nixon Center, a foreign policy think tank in Washington, D.C. From 1993 to 1996, he worked as a journalist for International Community Radio Taipei, an English-language radio station in Taiwan. While in Taiwan, he also worked as a correspondent for Newsweek.
Mr. May earned an M.A. in China Studies from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (1998) and a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin (1992).

Mr. Harald Kumpfert
Harald Kumpfert serves as the Chairman of the Board, EU Chamber of Commerce in China, Shenyang Chapter.
Harald Kumpfert has been working for 20 years in China in the field of energy efficiency.
Harald introduced new technologies, designs and operational methods to the industry, helping companies to reduce their energy bills while contributing to the improvement of air quality.
In appreciation for his contribution to the development of the City of Shenyang and the Liaoning Province Harald was awarded the Rose Prize of Shenyang in 2013 and the Friendship Award of Liaoning in 2014 and serves as the supervisor on the business environment of Shenyang since 2018.
In 2015 Harald Kumpfert joined the Board of the EU Chamber of Commerce in China and took over the position of Chairman of the Shenyang Chapter to support European Companies in developing their business in North East and to foster the ties with the society.

Mr. Thierry Aubry
Mr. Thierry Aubry is the CEO of RBJAC. Prior to joining the company in 2018, he worked in Goodbaby for two years as Senior Vice-president Group and China CEO. From 1995 to 2015, Mr. Aubry has spent twenty years with Faurecia Corp. Ltd. serving in total four plants. He was appointed as purchasing / quality / logistic manager in Faurecia Changchun, tool workshop manager and unit production business manager in Faurecia Beaulieu, general manager in Faurecia Wuhan, and China general manager in Faurecia Shanghai. Mr. Aubry also has five years’ working experience in technical departments of Société Courthieu France and Gaz de France from 1990 to 1995. Mr. Aubry graduated with a degree from Tours Engineer School (E.I.T.) of Automation and Mechanical Science. He also obtained a Dual EMBA degree from Marseille Euromed and Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2010.
Mr. Martin Verpoorten
Martin Verpoorten was born and University educated in the UK but he has been
living and working in China since 1993.
5th May 2018 AccorHotels was appointed him to the position of General Manager of Sofitel Shenyang Lido and Area General Manager of Accor North China.
Due to the efforts Martin Verpoorten has been awarded for contributions to the Chinese hotel industry as a high level Top Talent by the Tourism Administration and presented the Fujian Friendship Award for the successful event delivery and support during the BRICS conference.
In addition to the various awards of excellence achieved during his career to date, he is also a professional member of the Institute of Hospitality (MIH).
He would be very honoured to promote and support the interests of the European Chamber of Commerce here in Shenyang.
Mr. Alan Norman
Mr. Norman established a strong career in Education as a teacher, coach and administrator from 1975 to 2019 climbing the ranks and positioning himself for a series of challenges that consumed his passion over these years of his career as an Educator.
Mr. Norman has also worked internationally in China in partnership with the New Brunswick Department of Education as a Director of Programs from 1996 to 2019 and as the Head of School for 2 Canadian International Schools in China.
Mr. Erich Kaiserseder
Mr. Erich Kaiserseder is an Austrian national and a highly experienced and passionate hospitality industry professional. With over 30 years hotel experience, across countries and areas such as Mainland China, U.S., UAE, Singapore, Indonesia, Middle East, Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan etc., Erich held leading roles with international hotel brands like Ritz-Carlton and Shangri-La. Prior to joining Conrad Shenyang, Erich held the role of General Manager at The Langham Haikou.
With his extensive experience, professional knowledge, leadership and great passion for people and service, Erich is ready to lead the team of Conrad Shenyang towards a successful launch of Conrad Shenyang, by delivering bespoke intuitive luxury service experiences to the Shenyang hospitality market.
