Mr. Omar PUERTAS
Mr. Puertas is the managing partner of the Cuatrecasas’ Shanghai Office. He has practiced in Barcelona and New York, advising on international transactions. Since 2007, he has been based in Shanghai, mainly handling projects for inbound and outbound investment in China.
Mr. Puertas has ample experience in negotiating and executing joint- venture contracts, in advising on investment projects in China involving production facilities, public infrastructure, civil engineering and renewable energies, as well as in mergers and acquisitions. He also has extensive experience in resolving disputes, particularly in international arbitration.
Recommended by several directories, including Chambers Global, Chambers Asia, Legal 500 Asia, IFLR and Tax Directors Handbook in Corporate and M&A and Tax.
In 2013, Mr. Puertas received the "40 under 40" award, which the prestigious publication Iberian Lawyer Review grants to the top 40 lawyers under 40 years of age on the Iberian Peninsula.
Mr. Michael Tan
Michael has more than 20 years of experience in advising international companies on their operations in and with China. He has profound experience advising industrial clients in various sectors, covering all legal aspects of a typical investment deal like market entry and joint ventures, M&A restructuring and exit. Throughout his two decades’ practice, Michael has been gradually converging his energy on technology driven business and has built up his reputation and connections in the circle.
As the first Chinese partner of Taylor Wessing, Michael is now heading the firm's TMC practice for China. Besides his expertise regarding general corporate and commercial matters, he specializes in IT regulatory and data/privacy protection areas. Michael holds CIPP/E certification as granted by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). At the same time, he frequently publishes articles and comments on IT and technology related legal topics.
Michael is National Vice Chair of the Legal & Competition Working Group under the European Chamber of Commerce. He also serves as an arbitrator of the Shanghai International Arbitration Center.
Michael studied law at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing (UIBE), China, where he also completed his LLB and LLM degrees in 1997 and 2000 respectively. In 2006, Michael received his law doctorate from UIBE. In 1997, Michael was admitted to the Chinese bar. After practicing in domestic law firms, he worked in the Beijing office of a major international law firm from 2000 to 2002. In 2002, he joined Taylor Wessing in the Shanghai office. As of 2007, he has been appointed as a partner of Taylor Wessing.
Ms. Ana Jorge
Ms. Jorge specializes in tax advising and planning for large multinational business groups and high net-worth individuals with international interests. She has extensive experience advising on indirect taxation, Spanish corporate income tax consolidation regime, transfer pricing and permanent establishments. Her practice also includes dealing with tax audit procedures and negotiations with the Spanish tax authorities. She has actively participated in several national and international restructuring processes. Since 2017, she is based in Shanghai, advising on inbound and outbound investment in China.
Ms. Grace Lin
Ms. Lin has been providing tax advice for multinational company groups on both international and domestic transactions and for foreign expatriates working in China for nearly a decade. Ms. Lin has extensive experience in providing advice on tax implications and planning for cross-border and domestic transactions, especially for tax treaty, M&A, transfer pricing and taxation for expatriates, as well as participating in tax health check and M&A tax due diligence. Ms. Lin also provides advice on foreign exchange and customs issues for cross-border transactions.
