Companies have been using “design thinking” to spur innovation for several decades, Design thinking is best applied to ambiguous problems that don’t have known solutions.
“Design thinking” is a term coined by the design company IDEO to describe a process of user-oriented research, collaborative, multi-disciplinary problem solving and prototyping for a target audience through a relational process that drives the final designs to fit the greatest point of need by the particular users. In design thinking this process is referred to as “Challenge,” “Inspiration,” “Ideate,” and “Prototype.

Speakers
Mr. Emerson Pizzolito
Emerson Pizzolito is an experienced Project Manager at BSH working at R&D area. He has participated in the implementation of refrigeration projects in Brazil, Europe and China providing technical and management contributions for the last 19 years. Since 2016, he works as Product Engineering Coach in China, supporting managers and project team members to establish new methods for Design Thinking, Agile and specific tools for efficient engineering.
Mr. Robin Marsh
Studied a Bachelor of Design Technology Education and has been teaching design for the last 15 years in Australia, Chile, UK and China. In that time he has has been involved in implementing house systems into school, co-coordinator of design, in particular the product and graphical side of design and implemented design thinking into NIS design department.
Mr. Sean Newell
Based in Nanjing, he manages Ford engineering technical training, leadership development programs for early-career engineering leaders and Innovation MakerSpaces. Newell has served as an industrial advisor for several engineering universities and currently serves on the Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) International Executive Committees for Professional Development and New Energy Vehicles.
Newell is a System Design & Management (SDM) Fellow of the MIT Masters of Engineering and Management program and holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Detroit in electrical engineering.
Mr. Francis Morin
Experienced International Educator. Excels in finding new strategies to encourage students to reach personal excellence. Team player always questioning and digging deeper into both current and innovative practices. Design Thinking advocate. Creative and out of the box thinker.
