European Union Chamber of Commerce in China
Construction Working Group Meeting
Friday, 6 May, 14h – 16h
Venue: European Chamber office (Shanghai)
Address: Shui On Plaza, Unit 2204, 333 Huai Hai Zhong Road
Dear Working Group Member,
The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next Construction Working Group meeting. It will be held on Friday, 6 May, 14h – 16h at the European Chamber Beijing office. Members in Shanghai will join this meeting via videoconference.
At this meeting, Mr. Malte Beckmann, Knowledge Manager, Euro-China Eco City Link (EC-Link) project, will provide an update on the team's effort to create a bilingual (English - Chinese) urbanisation web-based 2.0 portal which, given sufficient interest on both sides, will provide European companies with access to cooperation/business opportunities with Chinese cities.
EC-Link is experiencing a significant demand from Chinese cities for European expertise which is much greater than what EC-Link can supply both in terms of budget and manpower. The team is therefore considering a platform that would allow registered/verified cities and companies to directly correspond with each other. The team would appreciate if participating companies were to share their experiences in dealing with Chinese cities and the procedural steps involved. The session will explore possible use-case scenarios and give member companies an opportunity to help shape the first version of the portal.
EC-Link is funded by the Directorate-General International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO). The project supports the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) in defining sector-based and policy best practices to support its national eco-low carbon development priorities.
Tentative Agenda:
- Presentation followed by Q&A: Update and discussion on possible use-scenarios of the EC-Link website, Mr. Malte Beckmann, Knowledge Manager, EC-Link
- Discussion on Construction Position Paper
- Discussion on upcoming WG activities
As always, we welcome your suggestions for agenda topics and possible speakers for this and future meetings.
