Dear Auto Components Working Group Members,
The European Chamber is delighted to invite you to join the Auto Components Working Group Meeting: China’s slowing economy and its implications for domestic automotive policy direction at Thursday 16:00-18:00, 14 January 2016 at the European Chamber Shanghai Office.
The Chinese government has for long pursued three major goals in its automotive policies: 1) supporting economic growth; 2) strengthening domestic companies; and 3) reducing fuel consumption and vehicle emissions. However, the three goals often conflict with each other and their priority order also changes depending on external conditions.
Now that the domestic economy is running of steam, how the Chinese government is likely to rebalance the three policy goals over the next few years, what new policies would the government roll out to stimulate market demand and would it uphold the current Energy Vehicles’ (EV) policies? In addition, a more important question for global OEMs and suppliers is: should they dance to the tune of the government or stay true to their own feelings about the market?
To offer a comprehensive perspective on aforementioned issues, the chamber will invite Mr. Yang Jian, Managing Editor from Automotive News China to deliver a presentation to provide a further analysis and explanation on this topic.
