European Chamber President Jörg Wuttke joined a ‘Two Sessions’ special programme on CGTN on 22nd May, together with Professor Yao Yang, president of the National Development Institute of Peking University and director of the China Economic Research Centre of Peking University, and Professor Zhu Ning, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
President Wuttke said “I’m very glad that the premier doesn’t set a GDP target… It’s very telling that the whole discussion was on the [key performance indicator] of employment. It’s also encouraging to see that money will not be spent on physical assets but on the paychecks, which will trigger demand and benefit business in general.” He also stressed that implementation is the key.
