European Chamber Members Elect Joerg Wuttke President and Select a New Executive Committee

Beijing, 28th May 2019 – The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place today in Beijing, with members electing Joerg Wuttke to serve as president for the next two years.

“Our role as the united voice of European business in China is more vital than ever, as US-China trade tensions dominate the headlines and risk pushing our member companies and their perspectives to the margins,” said President Wuttke. “During the coming two years and beyond, many questions will be asked about how the rapidly-unfolding changes on the ground in China are impacting European companies, as well as how Brussels and national capitals should respond. We need to be ready to answer.”

President Wuttke has lived and worked in China for 30 years and has extensive experience in a number of industries. At the European Chamber, he has also previously served as president for six years already: his first term was from 2007-2010 and the second from 2014-2017.

Charlotte Roule and Massimo Bagnasco were re-elected as European Chamber vice presidents, Jens Eskelund was elected to serve as a vice president for the first time and Rudolf Basson was elected as treasurer. Members of the Shanghai and South China chapters had previously elected Carlo D’Andrea and George Lau as their respective chairs, and both will serve as national vice presidents.

During the AGM, former President Mats Harborn presented the Chamber’s Annual Report 2018. To download a copy of the report, please click here
