Secretary General Dunnett Speaks to CNBC on Impact of the US-China Trade War

On 13th May, Secretary General Adam Dunnett was interviewed by CNBC about the impact of the US-China trade war on European companies in China.

SG Dunnett mentioned that, according to the Chamber’s annual survey, forced technology transfer is still an issue for members. He also said while intellectual property rights (IPR) enforcement in China is improving, stronger IPR campaigns from the Chinese government are still needed. He also mentioned that Chinese companies are getting increasingly innovative, which makes companies from other parts of the world pay more attention to protecting their own IPR.

Regarding Chinese government reactions to the trade war, he expects China to respond to US tariffs ‘in kind’ which they ended up doing later the same day.
