Nanjing, 27 March 2018 – The annual event of the European Chamber Nanjing Chapter “2018 Jiangsu Government Dialogue” was held at the Shangri-La Hotel Nanjing today. This event aimed to continue the tradition of having direct dialogue and improving relations between European businesses with Jiangsu Government. This year’s dialogue brought 33 government representatives from 16 provincial departments and around 120 representatives from more than 70 European enterprises in Jiangsu together to discuss the most concerned issues.

A main panel featuring 6 panelists from businesses and government shared insights on Regional market openness, talent attraction strategy, clean energy and intelligent manufacturing. The ensuing discussion addressed specific economic and development policies in Jiangsu such as pollution discharge, household registration system, High-Tech enterprise, Foreigner work permits and Cyber security. The discussions were divided into 4 panels by sector: AC member and GM Discussions; Sourcing and Intelligent Manufacturing; Human Resources and Business Environment; and Finance and Taxation.

The Nanjing Chapter Chairman, Bernhard Weber said, “This year marks the 40th anniversary of the launch of reform and opening-up policy. Foreign investment has played an important and necessary role in the development of economic and society. The Government Work Report 2018 delivered by Premier Li highly emphasised the contribution from foreign investment as well as the significance of deepening reform and further opening up. The European Chamber would like to take this opportunity to share the concerns and suggestions from European business with local government and work together to improve the regional business environment. A stable and transparent business environment enables our members to expand investment, to create more job opportunities and to promote development in Jiangsu.”
