European Chamber Shanghai Chapter meets with European Commission negotiators for the EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment

On Monday, 27th June, European Chamber Shanghai Chapter Vice Chairman Marcus Wassmuth led the Chairs of several national working groups to meet with two of the European Commission’s top negotiators for the EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment (EU-China CAI). The attendees briefed Mr Michael Fridrich, a legal officer responsible for the EU-China CAI’s chapter on financial services, and Ms Alexandra Koutiglidou, a legal officer covering legal technicalities in the EU-China CAI, and Ms Mieke Vanderstraeten, First Counsellor of the EU Delegations’ Trade Section, on their expectations for a robust and comprehensive investment agreement.

Ms Koutiglidou, Ms Vanderstraeten and Mr Fridrich appreciated the exchange and thought it to be extremely helpful to hear about the market access barriers that European businesses face in China from people on the ground.
