Meeting with the Trade Section of the EU Delegation to China on the Energy WG Position Paper 2023-24
On 8th November 2023, European Chamber Energy WG representatives has a meeting with a representative of the Trade Section of the EU Delegation, to discuss market access issues raised in the Energy WG Position Paper 2023-24, in particular due to unequal competition in the renewable energy sector with Chinese SOEs.

The European Chamber co-organised the online release event of the "Renewable Energy & Storage Financing" report with the German Energy Agency (dena) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on Wednesday 18th October. Zhonghua Xu, National Chair of Energy Working Group gave the opening remarks and Mario Huang Yu, National Chair of Banking & Securities Working Group, delivered a keynote speech on the financing of renewable energy projects.

On 12th October, Zhonghua Xu, European Chamber Energy Working Group Chair spoke at the 11th EU-China Energy Dialogue in Beijing. The Dialogue was co-chaired by Kadri Simson, EU Commissioner for Energy and Zhang Jianhua, Administrator of China's National Energy Administration. The EU-China energy dialogue was established in 1994 and was deepened and intensified by the 2019 joint statement on the implementation of EU-China cooperation.

On 28th September 2023, the European Chamber Energy Working Group and Enviornment Working Group co-organised the hybrid meeting on Green Electricity Certificates (GEC): Policy Updates and Industrial Exchanges and invited the officials and experts of relevant departments to discuss the latest policy updates on GEC, promote the exchange of the industry, and improve the green power consumption capacity of multinational companies.

The European Chamber, the Department of Science and Technology of Shanxi Province, the Multinational Corporation Carbon Neutrality Forum 50 (MNC50) and the Shanxi Research Institute of Huairou Laboratory jointly organised the "Panel Forum: Energy Transition and Low-Carbon Innovation" in Taiyuan, Shanxi on 7th September. This event was an integral part of the Coal Clean and Efficient Utilization Parallel Forum and the Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum 2023. Zhonghua Xu, National Chair of the Energy Working Group hosted the forum.

On 3rd September 2023, the European Chamber supported the Global Green Development and Carbon Neutrality Thematic Conference under the 2023 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), which was co-organised by International Green Economy Association (IGEA) and World Business Council of Sustainable Development (WBCSD) in China National Convention Centre in Beijing. Mr Ruixin Li, National Chair of the Carbon Market Working Group of the European Chamber, delivered a keynote speech in the High-level Thematic Roundtable: EU CBAM and China's Industrial Dual Circulation Strategy.
