European Chamber Business Delegation Visit to Qingdao

On 20th and 21st April, European Chamber President Jörg Wuttke and Vice President (VP) Carlo D'Andrea led a business delegation to visit Qingdao, Shandong Province. The delegation met with government officials including Mr Lu Zhiyuan, deputy party secretary of Shandong Province and party secretary of Qingdao, Mr Zhao Haozhi, mayor of Qingdao, and Mr Zhao Shengcun, vice mayor of Qingdao. The visit was widely reported by media, including Qingdao TV, Qingdao Daily and Phoenix, among others.

European Tour 2022-23 Meeting with Industry Representatives of China Chamber of Commerce to the EU (CCCEU)

On 13th January 2023, the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (European Chamber) and the China Chamber of Commerce to the EU (CCCEU) jointly held a high-level EU-China Business Leaders Dialogue in Brussels, Belgium. Minister Peng Gang of the Chinese Mission to the EU delivered a keynote speech, while President Joerg Wuttke of the European Chamber and President Xu Haifeng of the CCCEU delivered welcoming remarks online. Zhonghua Xu, Chair of the Energy Working Group and Sarah Yu, Vice-Chair of the Environment Working Group of the European Chamber, offered their views and suggestions on the prospects of exploring cooperation between Chinese and European companies in the fields of sustainable development and ESG, respectively. The event was moderated by Adam Dunnett, Secretary General of the European Chamber, and Fang Dongkui, Secretary General of the CCCEU.

Insight Sharing: EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and China’s Footstep

On 16th February, the European Chamber Finance and Taxation Working Group held a working group meeting to share insight on the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and China’s footstep in the carbon-related tax policies.

Paolo Caridi, Policy Coordinator of DG CLIMA of the European Commission, introduced the EU’s CBAM, and Cong Zhang, Partner of Ernst & Young, provided the perspective from China side taking stock of the current tax policies in the country and sharing insight on the relevant framework discussions.
