Meeting with Pudong Institute of Finance

On Thursday 12 March, Zhou Minhua, Department of Development of Pudong Institute of Finance, paid a visit to EUCCC Shanghai Chapter. The Pudong Institute of Finance is affiliated with Pudong Financial Services Bureau, providing services to senior executives of foreign financial organizations. In addition, the Institute works closely with well-known foreign universities and business schools and organizes regular seminars for senior Chinese financial executives and regulators. Zhou presented the 2014 Pudong Financial Talents White Paper to the Chamber and invited the Chamber to attend Pudong International Financial Talents Forum on March 18, in which, the Shanghai Chapter’s Vice Chairman Mick Adams and Vice Chair of Banking Working Group Catherine Jing will participate. Senior Government Affairs Manager Helei Fu, along with Assistant to Working Groups & Government Affairs Huang Shan, welcomed Zhou’s visit and discussed the impact of CSPFTZ expansion on foreign business. According to Zhou, the expansion of the CSPFTZ will take into effect on March 18. After the expansion, the Pudong residents may benefit from the new financial policies, i.e. opening a free trade account, and foreign financial organizations will surely have more business opportunities. Regarding the State Council’s Circular No. 62 on Cleaning up and Standardizing Preferential Policies on Tax and Other Aspects, Zhou said it did stop the district government’s practice on tax refund to senior foreign financial executives and the district government is await for the final decisions made by the municipal government. Zhou would also like the Chamber to help collect comments on development of financial talents so that these can be included in the 13th Five-yea-plan of the Pudong district government.
