Secretary General Delivers Keynote Speech at Liaoning-Europe Investment Cooperation Forum

On 26th September, European Chamber Secretary General Adam Dunnett spoke at the ‘Exploring Green Development Pathways’ sub-forum during the Liaoning-Europe Investment Cooperation Exchange and Multinational CEO Visit in Liaoning.

Dunnett highlighted Liaoning’s industrial strength and abundant resources, and offered two recommendations to help promote high-quality development in Liaoning: one for the automotive industry and one for green energy technologies.

He recommend mandating the use of snow tyres in Liaoning Province during winter months, which could reduce tyre-related fatalities by half, while also stimulating consumption and investment. He noted that such regulations are already in place in most other northern European countries, making this an ideal area for EU-China collaboration.

On the green transition, Dunnett spoke of the importance of raising awareness of climate change, as well as ensuring access to sustainable and affordable sources of green energy. He also highlighted the energy-saving is another great way to decarbonise and there are European service providers in Liaoning provinces that can help companies in this process.

Also present at the event were Wang Libo, Vice Governor of Liaoning Province, Sun Jiafeng, Deputy Secretary-general of Liaoning Province, Zhai Dehuai, Deputy Director General of Liaoning Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, and Nikola Vitas, Assistant Minister of Ministry of Economy of Republic of Serbia.
