On 25th September, Adam Dunnett, Secretary General of the European Chamber, met Liaoning Governor Li Lecheng and other key provincial leaders at the Liaoning International Fair for Investment and Trade.
Governor Li opened up the possibility for foreign businesses to contribute to the province’s development through industrial transformation, and the modernisation and expansion of services. One of the suggestions that Dunnett made to the Liaoning Governmentwas to introduce regulations mandating the use of winter tyres during periods of bad weather, which is one of the key recommendations from the European Chamber's Auto Components Working Group Position Paper 2024/2025.
Dunnett pointed out that doing so could reduce tyre-related fatalities by half, stimulate consumption and investment, create a new service industry and further underscore Liaoning’s leading role in the development of China’s automotive industry. The governor Li responded positively, highlighting the importance of people’s safety as a major concern for his government, and said he would research it further.
