President Jens Eskelund Speaks at the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit

On 24th May, the newly elected European Chamber President Jens Eskelund was invited to join the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit organised by the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). Vice Premier He Lifeng delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony, emphasising that China will continue to open up to welcome foreign investment in China. President Eskelund participated in Panel I “Bring the World New Opportunities Through China’s Own Development”, together with representatives from other foreign chambers and discussed the challenges and opportunities for European business in China. He emphasised the importance of constructive dialogues among relevant stakeholders to address the current unbalanced European Union-China trade and investment. In addition, he recommended that China extend the exemption of non-taxable benefits for foreign employees from individual tax.
