Meeting with the Chinese Academy of Sciences on Prospects of International Innovation Cooperation in the Information and Communication Technology Industry

On 18th May, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Working Group and Cybersecurity Sub-working Group met with representatives of the Industrial Science and Technology Innovation Research Centre of the Institutes of Sciences and Development, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), on prospects of international innovation cooperation in the ICT industry.

During the meeting, Yu Jiang, executive director of the Industrial Science and Technology Innovation Research Centre, introduced the CAS Institutes of Science and Development and their research work on China's science and technology (S&T) innovation policy, and spoke on new directions in national S&T policies and strategies – building up a high level of self-reliance and innovation, and the role of foreign-invested enterprises in China's S&T innovation system.

Michael Chang, chair of the Information and Communication Technology Working Group, introduced the European Chamber and the two working groups, and gave a presentation on the  Chamber's recent report, China's Innovation Ecosystem: The Localisation Dilemma. He also shared insights on the challenges of European enterprises' R&D localisation strategies under China's technological self-reliance campaign.
