European Chamber Participated the Symposium with Beijing Vice Mayor Sima Hong on Improving Business Environment

On 21st March, Beijing Municipal Government organised a symposium with foreign chambers on business environment in Beijing. Representatives from Beijing Commission of Development and Reform and Beijing Investment Promotion Service Center briefed the participants on the recent investment development in Beijing. Together with other 9 foreign chambers, EXCO member and State Representative, Peter Ling-Vannerus, participated the symposium and spoke about the concerns of European business in Beijing on behalf of the Chamber. He raised the issues of recent Beijing air quality, the extension of tax exemption of non-cash benefits for foreign nationals, “buy China” and self-reliance industry policies. Other foreign chambers shared similar concerns.  

Vice Mayor Sima Hong thanked all participants for the meeting and welcomed the recommendations. Vice Mayor Sima said that Beijing will continue to improve its business environment to attract more foreign business. Beijing will establish quarterly dialogue with foreign business communities to build trust and promote Beijing’s policies on supporting business development.
