Maritime Working Group meets DDG of the Bureau of Water Transport at MOT

On 25th November, European Chamber Maritime Working Group sent a group of industry representatives to Ministry of Transport (MOT) to meet with Li Hongyin, Deputy Director General of Bureau of Water Transport.  The delegation gave a briefing to MoT on the present situation of the international liner shipping industry and discussed a number of working level issues confronting the China’s maritime sector ranging from port closures, international relay, to surcharges. MoT updated the delegation on the recent developments, initiatives and working priorities, and provided detailed explanations, clarifications and comments on the questions the working group raised.  DDG Li Hongyin also mentioned the ‘National Blue Print for the Shipping Industry’ and talked about how the international liner shipping community can contribute towards realizing the aspirations of the blue print. The meeting ended up with an agreement to organize such working level exchanges on a regular basis.
