Dinner Meeting with Yu Changhe, Mayor of Luzhou

On 14th November 2022, a delegation of Southwest China Chapter of European Chamber visited Luzhou and had a dinner meeting with Xianhe Yu, Mayor of Luzhou. During the meeting, Massimo introduced European Chamber, Southwest China team and EU SME Centre, and said that the open dialogue between member companies and local government is good for better understanding and establishing long term cooperation. More details as following:
- Massimo mentioned his last visit to Luzhou during China EU GI Forum.
- Shared difficulty for SMEs to get financial support from local government and from finance institution. Suggest local government to put the next priority on SMEs if they want to attract more new FDI since most big fishes are already in China and also SMEs contribute lots of know-how and jobs.
- Focus and the topic of cooperation can be related to the ongoing dialogues between EU - China: climate change very wide topic which can help to improve people wellbeing but not only since it is the main new driver to attract investment;
- Biodiversity protection to preserve the unique natural elements of each specific region;
- FF&BB Geographic indicators;
- Healthcare is a key matter, and we could consider about doctors exchange program;
- Encourage an inclusive role for the European SMEs in Luzhou development. There is the need for proactive measure to welcome, even small while innovative, companies in the sectors of common interest. Nowadays the EU SMEs represent real opportunities to attract foreign investment, but, due to their nature, they need “tailor made” services and financial support. a cooperation between Luzhou authorities and our members, in the comforting of the carbon neutrality strategy as well as in the policy making stage could be helpful to draft the policies in the most suitable way to match with the EU SMEs’ needs.
