Meeting with DG Grow on Magnesium Shortages (PCR WG)

2021-12-03 | Shanghai

Recent concerns have been raised in Brussels on the issue of magnesium shortages and the need to secure China as a reliable magnesium producer/supplier. As magnesium is a crucial component for various critical industries including automatic and aerospace, several European stakeholders have expressed growing concerns on supply chain disruptions and China regulatory issues.  The purpose of this online meeting was to facilitate discussion between the EU Delegation and European Chamber industry players on causes and effects of the magnesium shortages, in the hopes of anticipating future bottlenecks on critical raw materials. PCR Working Group National and Vice Chairs (Karin Xu and Brooks Yu) as well as Energy Working Group Vice Chair  (Mickael Naouri) represented the Chamber in discussions with DG Grow First Counsellor (Frank Schmiedel) and Xavier Sans Powell.
