The European Chamber South China Chapter Meets with Zhongshan Leaders of the Foreign Affairs Office, Bureau of Commerce and Bureau of Market Regulation

On July 27, a delegation from the European Chamber South China Chapter lead by Vice Chair, Fabian Blake, met Deputy Director-general of the Zhongshan Foreign Affairs Office, Guo Daiyun, Deputy Director-General of the Zhongshan Bureau of Commerce, Luo Yuhang, and a representative consultant from the Zhongshan Bureau of Market Regulation, Zhang Lizhen, to discuss the content of the 2021 Business Confidence Survey. In addition to explaining the main points of the Survey in great detail, Fabian also touched on key issues that affect members in South China, even those in Zhongshan, which include transparency, GBA opportunities, attracting talent to Zhongshan, IIT reform, and the power shortage issue. The representatives from Zhongshan acknowledged that these issues are very really and are a challenge to the development of Zhongshan. With ambitions to develop as an international city and highlight their talent for logistics and complete industrial chain, Zhongshan is most focused on acquiring talent in the long term. For the power shortage, Deputy Director-General Luo mentioned the advocacy letter they received from the European Chamber was very encouraging and focused their attention on the problem with great seriousness. The representatives have been working closely with provincial officials to ensure Zhongshan members of the European Chamber have their power requirements met. Concluding the meeting, Fabian gave Deputy Director-General Guo, Deputy Director-General Luo, and Ms Zhang each a copy of the 2021 Business Confidence Survey.
