 2014 Nanjing Mayor's International Conference on September 23 at the Purple Palace focused on sustainable development.

18 qualified guests: scientists, politicians, innovators and planners seated around a round table together with Mayor Miao Rui Lin and Vice Mayors of Nanjing.

The European Chamber of Commerce in Nanjing was present.

The goal of the consultative conference being to make sustainability a reality.  Nanjing is confronting with enormous challenges. However, by 2020, Nanjing will emerge as the international metropolis famed for dynamic economy, distinct local culture, desirable living environment, safe and harmonious social and green lifestyle. Green industry system taking shape, achieving pronounced results in energy saving and emission reduction, realizing infrastructure for waste disposal, air-water quality improvement and forest-greenery area rise.

Restructuring the 4 districts were heavily polluting industries are located is an ongoing process that will last around 10 years.

The leadership of Nanjing is committed to completing its modernization by 2030.
