International Forum on Accelerating Carbon Neutrality in the Yangtze River Delta Region

Hosted by the World Resources Institute and supported by the Consulate General of Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden (all Shanghai) and the Embassy of Iceland (Beijing), this Shanghai event discussed initiatives to bolster coordinated regional development in the YRD region for reaching technological innovation while realising carbon neutrality. This forum explored barriers and challenges for companies in scaling renewable energy to accelerate low-carbon transition, key technology innovations and policy support. Our National Vice Chair of the Energy Working Group (Juan Ignacio Garcia de Motiloa) represented the Chamber and presented a keynote speech on ‘EU and China: Look to Net-Zero Future’, discussing key areas for European-Chinese collaboration to decrease emissions. It involved Chinese stakeholders such as the Shanghai Economic Information Centre, Anhui Economic Institute, Southeast University YRD Carbon Neutrality Strategy Development Institute, the Secretary General of China New Energy Investment and Financing Alliance and various industry players.
