Roundtable Discussion on the draft Anti-Monopoly Law

On 27th January, the MOJ organised a roundtable discussion on the draft Anti-Monopoly Law. Together with another 8 companies and 6 associations and chambers, the European Chamber was invited to join the discussion. The key focus was on the competition policy in the digital sector. The Director of the Second Bureau of Legislation of the MOJ welcomed all participants and briefly introduced the background of the meeting. China first Anti-Monopoly Law was passed by the National People’s Congress in 2007 and became effective in 2008. In 2020, China started the revision process of the Anti-Monopoly Law. Currently, it is under the review of the MOJ. The Legislative Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress’ work plan will be announced soon. So far, the Anti-Monopoly Law is in the plan as category I, which means it is prioritised by the government. During the discussion, participants raised their inputs on the draft. The MOJ thanked all participants for their comments and feedback. The MOJ and the SAMR also remained welcome for further comments from the industry and chambers.
