Comments to NPC on Draft Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of the Yangtze River

On 23^rd January, the Environment and Petrochemicals, Chemicals and Refining working groups submitted comments to the National People's Congress on Draft Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of the Yangtze River.

Among other comments, working group members took issue with the provision forbidding the building or expansion of chemical industry parks and projects within one kilometer of the shoreline of the mainstream and tributary of the Yangtze River. These restrictions would hinder high-quality and green industrial upgrading, and prevent products from being improved or competitive in the market.
