Meeting with Guangzhou Executive Vice Mayor Chen Zhiying

The European Chamber, led by South China Board Vice Chair, Mr. Klaus Zenkel, had a private meeting with the Executive Vice Mayor of Guangzhou, Mr. Chen Zhiying. Mr. Chen was accompanied by Mr. Lei Weiju, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou, and Mr Wu Shangwei, Deputy Director-General of the Guangzhou Municipal Commercial Bureau.

Vice Mayor Chen started the meeting by expressing the necessity for closer ties between the European Chamber of Commerce and the Guangzhou Municipal Government. He later mentioned the importance of the European Chamber’s publications and their reflection of the business environment of South China. During the meeting, Mr. Chen described the various, essential industries that he would like European businesses to help Guangzhou develop.

Mr. Zenkel agreed that a stronger cooperation between the European Chamber and the Guangzhou Government would benefit both parties and appreciated Mr. Chen’s enthusiasm for reading the European Chamber’s publications. The meeting concluded with Mr. Chen, Mr. Lei, and Mr. Wu accepting copies of the most recent South China Position Paper, Corporate Social Credit System Report, Business Confidence Survey, and National Position Paper.
