Attend and speak at the PCCPL Seminar on the Anti-monopoly Law (AML) in the Automotive Industry

On 10th August, 2019, Tiantian Qi, Senior Business Manager and National Auto Component Working Group Lead, was invited to discuss the Anti-monopoly Law (AML) in the Automotive Industry at the seminar that was jointly hosted by the Professional Committee on Competition Policy and Law (PCCPL) of China Society for World Trade Organization Studies (CWTO) and the Beijing Yingke Law Firm.

After the opening remark by Minglin Li, the Vice-President and Secretary-General of CWTO, Yong Huang, Deputy Director of PCCPL and Professor at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), and Junlin Wang, lawyer at the Beijing Yingke Law Firm, each presented speeches on the competitive environment of the automotive industry and the analysis on the law enforcement of AML in the automotive industry. Afterward, Tiantian Qi and many other representatives engaged in in-depth discussions on various topics concerning monopoly in the automotive fields.

The discussions included analysis of industry regulatory trends and compliance implications based on anti-monopoly case studies in the automotive industry, study on the characteristics and difficulties of Anti-monopoly regulations in the automobile 4S-station sales model, questions on the application of anti-monopoly exemptions in the automotive industry, the significance of the promulgation of Anti-monopoly Guideline in the Automotive Industry (AML Guideline), and examination on the administrative monopoly of the automobile industry under the background of the fair competition review system.

The meeting has facilitated in-depth discussions on several industrial and professional issues and constructed a common platform which link practitioners, academic institutions, and government departments. Overall, the seminar has achieved many positive results. Also, worth to mention the auto components players concerns were deeply recognized at the discussion and the organiser has agreed to support us to pass the concerns forward to the Auto sector AML guidelines decision-making committee.
