Meeting with Deputy Director-General Zhang Weike, Department of Commerce of Shandong Province

On 19th afternoon, Deputy-Director General Zhang Weike and Deputy-Division Chief of Western Asian and African Affairs Wang Peng from the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province visited the Chamber’s Beijing Office, Chamber representatives led by Ziting Zhang, Head of Government Affairs, received them. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss potential cooperation between the Department and the Chamber to facilitate the establishment of the prospective “Qingdao Summit of Multinational Corporation Leaders.” After giving a brief prelude on the strengths of Shandong Province, DDG Zhang introduced the coming 1st Qingdao Summit of Multinational Corporation Leaders. The Summit jointly led by Mofcom and Shandong provincial government, is set to take place annually on the third weekend of October. As 2019 is the first year, Chamber staffs and DDG Li exchanged ideas on areas Department and the Chamber can work together to spread the information among multinational corporations and send out invitation letters to CEOs, and tips and advices were given by Ziting on how to approach and communicate with foreign investors.
Both sides agreed to jointly host a pre-summit event in Beijing to increase publicity of the Summit. At the end of the meeting, Ziting presented to DDG Zhang the Chamber’s Business Confidence Survey 2019 and European Business in China Position Paper 2018/19.
