Meeting with Director General Liu Hongkuan, Foreign Capital and Overseas Investment Department, National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC)

On 29th May, the European Chamber paid a visit to Liu Hongkuan, director general (DG), Foreign Capital and Overseas Investment Department, National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). The delegation was led by Carl Hayward, general manager (GM) and communications director.
GM Hayward presented the key findings of the Business Confidence Survey 2019, which was released on 20th May. Representatives from the Automotive, Healthcare Equipment, Information and Communication Technology, Quality and Safety Services working groups and the Government Affairs Forum also addressed DG Liu. The discussions covered topics such as the negative impact of the US-China trade war, the lack of equality between European businesses and Chinese SOEs and government-sponsored institutions, expectations for further opening-up in the insurance and certification sectors and the Catalogue of Industries for Guiding Foreign Investment.
