Meeting with China Academy for Environmental Planning under MEP on Environmental PPP in China

Provided that the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) released the Implementing Opinions on Facilitating the Third-party Treatment on Environmental Pollution in August 2017, the Chamber was pleased to invite Dr Lu Yuantang, Director of Environmental Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Centre of China Academy of Environmental Planning (CAEP) under MEP to provide exclusive insights on the current legal framework, implementation situation and risk management of environmental PPP projects in China, followed by a Q&A session with members.

Dr Lu divided his presentation into six sections, including the necessity of facilitating PPP projects in environment sector, key areas of environmental PPP projects, requirements and relevant policies on facilitating environmental PPP projects, recent progress and development, implementation situation of environmental PPP projects, and concerns and suggestions on risk management.

This meeting concluded with Mr Gianluca Ghiara, Chamber National Vice Chair of Environment Working Group, presenting the European Chamber Position Paper 2017/2018 to Dr Lu, along with the wish of more cooperation opportunities and communication between the Chamber and CAEP.
