Participation in the Launch Event of City-to-city Cooperation on Sustainable Urban Development of IUC Project Initiated by NDRC and European Commision

The launch event was led by Mr Hans Dietmar Schweisgut, Head of the EU Delegation, Mr Liu Sushe, Director General of the Regional Economy Department of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Mr Ronald Hall, Senior Adviser for International Cooperation in DG REGIO of the European Commission (EC).  Seven Chinese cities were officially represented at the event: Zhengzhou, Changchun, Chongqing, Shantou, Longyan, Guangzhou and Tianjin, as well the West Midlands and the Andalucía Smart City Cluster for the European Union (EU) side.

DG Mr Liu Sushe of NDRC, Mr Hans Dietmar Schweisgu of the EU Delegation, Mr Ronald Hall in DG REGIO, Dr Juergen Ritter, Project Director of the International Urban Cooperation (IUC) Project, Dr Shi Xin, Deputy Project Director of the IUC Project and Mr Zou Yong, Deputy Director General of the Regional Economy Department of NDRC made remarks on the EU-China sustainable urban development and their implementation plans on pilot cities respectively.  In addition, local NDRC representatives from the aforementioned seven cities made presentations on their city and resource advantages and tentative further opening plans for the European investors and entrepreneurs in various industries, including but not limited to clean technology, automobile, airplanes, green energy, environmental protection and sustainable solution. 

Chamber’s Construction Working Group Vice Chair Mr Massimo Bagnasco and Mr Kevin Gao, the Chamber’s Working Group Coordinator, had private conversations with Dr Shi Xin, Deputy Project Director of the IUC Project and DDG Mr Yong Zou of NDRC regarding potential cooperation opportunities for the Chamber’s member companies and further involvement of our Chamber in the IUC Project.
