DS is currently engaged in providing technical expertise and project support services to the EU institutions with the objective of improving cooperation and protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in China under the IP Key initiative (https://ipkey.eu/en/china) which encompasses the following:
- Improved protection and greater alignment by China with the EU in terms of trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and e-commerce, during the annual EU China IP Dialogue
- Enhanced understanding and trust through regular exchange activities between EU and Chinese counterparts responsible for IPRs
- Ad hoc support for EU-China IP Working Groups
- Modernized IP administration and enforcement practices and tools in China
- Greater awareness on IP protection and enforcement
- Improved information sharing between stakeholders
Job description
DS is recruiting an Activity Coordinator for Selected IPRs (patents, copyright, plant variety & GIs). The candidate is to work closely with EU counterparts and the project team, primarily based Beijing and in frequent communication with EU-based institutions.
Skills & experience
To be considered for this position, the candidate must meet the following minimum criteria:
- University degree in law, political science, economics, or equivalent
- Fluent English with good knowledge of Chinese
- At least 4 years of professional experience with the organization of activities and events
- At least 2 years of experience with EU-related IPRs
- At least 3 years of professional experience in China and/or Southeast Asia
- At least 4 years of experience in the implementation of international cooperation projects, with at least 2 years of experience in the implementation of EU-funded projects
- At least 2 years of experience supporting international trade negotiations
- At least 4 years of experience in IPR acquired in the private, academic, or public sector
- At least 2 years of experience in trade negotiations and/or experience EU-China IPR issues
- Familiar with the IP environment in the EU and China and priority issues, including patents, copyright, plant variety, and GIs
- Familiar with the main IP issues related to international trade negotiations between the EU and China
