Job description:
At the earliest opportunity, we are looking for a highly motivated technical advisor (m/f) with knowledge and ideally first experience in the areas of waste management, green finance, plastic or circular economy.
In China IWM NAMA Project, 80% of your duties are as technical advisor and 20% administrative responsibility. It expects an interesting field of activity in which you can participate in the sustainable transformation of the waste sector in China.
Your tasks
Your professional tasks are (80%):
• Supporting the project team in developing and implementing the project measures to foster transformation of the Chinese waste and circular economy sector;
• Analysis of the concepts and plans of the project demonstration cities for the development of sustainable integrated waste management, low-carbon development, circular economy and green finance;
• providing up-to-date policy analysis and information on the specific aspects of waste management and circular economy (e.g. waste treatment policy and technology, effectiveness of waste segregation, plastic and packaging waste recycling, green finance)
• Analysis and provision of up-to-date information on the role of waste management in reducing greenhouse gas emissions;
• supporting the project team in the development of new project activities;
• Communication with partners and interest groups, cooperation in the establishment and continuation of networks, cooperation and contacts with the client and other relevant stakeholders
Your administrative tasks are (20%):
• provide supports to external experts for better project implementation;
• Technical translation / interpretation;
• Documenting the project-relevant information for publications and progress reports to the partners;
• Technical assistance in new acquisition application.
Skills & experience
Your profile
• has a university degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, financing, or circular economy
• has more than 3 years work experience in relevant areas (e.g. waste management, circular economy, climate change, plastic recycling or green finance);
• has abundant experiences about literature review, report preparation;
• is familiar with working in an international environment / development / political advice;
• has excellent spoken and written English language skills and native Chinese; German language is a plus;
• is a strong team player who works reliably, proactively and consistently on his/her tasks;
• open-minded, curious and willing to learn;
• experienced in dealing with MS Office;
• intercultural sensitivity.
Notes: This position is associated with frequent business trips within China.
