Job description
Position Overview
1.Be responsible for business development of Tomra’s circular economy solutions (mixed waste sorting and collection) and identifying opportunities at city level
2.Be responsible for preparing and presenting city-level circular economy project proposal (system engineering), engaging key stakeholders for needed official approvals and supports
3.Create and manage external relations network at the city level (government departments, local state-owned or private waste related enterprises, research institutes, NGOs, etc.) to ensure smooth project implementations
4.Be the key leader of city level circular economy project implementation
5.Support CE team strategy development
Roles and Responsibilities:
1.Develop the city-level circular economy projects:
1)Supports and implements projects in the planning phase up to and including the feedback & evaluation phase
2)Lead the work and actively participate in mapping current waste management situation in a city and drafting up improved waste management systems for the cities, covering collection systems, logistics, waste processing/sorting and final-end treatment (incineration, landfill, organic treatment and recycling etc.). Evaluate different alternatives vs recycling rates, waste utilization rate, GHG emissions, total cost and overall compliance with government set targets and guidelines etc.
3)Organizes and facilitates working group meetings and other forms of assembly related to the projects and reports on this to the stakeholders and makes sure that obstacles are dealt with efficiently.
4)Takes initiatives that improve the processes.
5)Controls the budget of the assigned projects
2.Information flow external:
1)Cooperates closely with the local government, local waste management and recycling companies, design institutes, etc. and ensures a proper information flow.
2)Is available to give technical support/advice to local governments and customers in the initiation phase of a project.
3.Information flow internal:
1)Develop and maintain the necessary archives of the project development and implementation
2)Cooperates closely with the sales and BD teams to ensures a proper information flow about the project status.
Skills & experience
Candidate profile:
1.Bachelor or master’s degree in economics, environment engineering, or environment related fields
2.Minimum 5-7 years’ work experience in private sector and/or government or government relations; project management; consulting;
3.Experience or knowledge in waste management, sanitation, incineration or waste recycling sector is a big plus
4.Extensive experience in external stakeholder and relationship management and building coalitions
5.Proven ability to work with Chinese municipal government and other high-level stakeholders, hands on experience and understanding of the legislative process and political environment in China
6.Good communication skills both verbal and writing, good presentation and interpersonal skills
7.Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese
8.Agile, self-starter with an ability to work autonomously
9.Willingness to travel domestic and abroad
Other skills/abilities:
1.Ability to relate to local customers, their views and issues (preferably experience in the local culture)
2.knowledge on material flow in recycling plants
3.basic material knowledge (plastics, identification, haptic)
