About the company
“EURAXESS – Researchers in Motion” is an initiative of the European Research Area (ERA) strategy that addresses barriers to the mobility of researchers and seeks to enhance scientific collaboration between Europe and the rest of the world.
EURAXESS Services: a direct link to the over 1000 staff in 520 EURAXESS Service Centres and Local Contact Points who provide free assistance to researchers and their families in the planning and organisation of their move to, or stay in, a foreign country.
The EURAXESS WORLDWIDE network is the international arm of the EURAXESS initiative linking Europe to the rest of the world. The objective is to develop, run and animate a network administrative cells outside of Europe aiming at supporting researchers working outside of Europe who wish to connect or stay connected with Europe.
The network comprises the central level (based in Europe) as well as local cells in countries/hubs. The central level coordinates the work, is the single contact with the European Commission and is responsible for the continuity of the operations and the for the work done by the members of the team and of the local cells.
EURAXESS WORLDWIDE local cells (country representative / local assistant) promote Horizon2020/ Horizon Europe mainly from the angle of mobility and opportunities, e.g. Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) and ERC (European Research Council). They spread information in manifold ways such as via social media, event participation, conference organisation, etc. with the aim of creating a critical mass of members. It is expected that the local cells work closely with EURAXESS Service Centres.
Job description
Tasks
1. Coordination and animation of the network
Promotion of EU research
o Providing information about European funding opportunities under H2020/H Europe with special emphasis on ERC and MCSA and entrepreneurial collaboration (to be defined).
o Providing information in the form of presentations, information stands and bilateral talks at all scheduled conferences, meetings, expos and fairs on the attractiveness of Europe for researchers as well as on social media
o Raise the awareness of the European Research Area at all the meetings, conferences attended as well as through mailing lists, newsletters or social media contributions.
Networking
o Animation of collaboration with EURAXESS Service Centres based in Europe – especially linking European and non-European researchers with the EURAXESS Service centres at European level to facilitate the relocation of European and non-European researchers to Europe.
o Networking the European and non-European researchers in the respective country by providing information and meeting opportunities on topics related to European research opportunities and international collaboration between European and non-European researchers.
o Establishing interfaces with existing Member States research networks in the country/hub.
EURAXESS membership
.
o Increase the EURAXESS membership in the respective country and lift it up to a representative level with respect to the total number of European researchers in each country/hub
2. Editorial taks
o Drafting of minimum four country/hub newsletters per year of maximum 10 pages each. See example: https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/sites/default/files/domains/asean/euraxess_links_asean_newsletter_no_1_2016.pdf
o The newsletters shall be published regularly throughout the year and shall precede the quarterly report.
o The newsletter shall provide an overview of the European research related policies and Links activities in the respective country13.
o Drafting of minimum one flash note per country/hub per week to the members of the national network and interested researchers, e.g. on funding opportunities at European and national level.
3. Organisation of events
Participation in and organization of various types of events for researchers and other relevant stakeholders. Indicatively, the following types of events are envisaged:
i) information events on European research policies, funding and collaboration opportunities;
ii) thematic events;
iii) PR events to promote the network and grow membership;
iv) match-making events to promote scientific collaboration between European researchers and those from the host country/hub;
v) Participation to exhibitions.
Skills & experience
- at least 3 years of professional experience in the field of communication, web and web community management, organisation of events
- relevant higher education degree or equivalent professional experience and at least 5 years professional experience in the field (research)
- Excellent English knowledge
- Very good knowledge of Chinese
