Job description
Overview:
The jobholder will manage a business development portfolio across East China that will include CBBC membership growth in East China, research consultancy and new product development. We require a pro-active self-starter and an excellent communicator with a collaborative mind-set and proven ability to develop new opportunities; convert them into successful commercial wins and drive corporate growth.
Excellent business development and communication skills are critical to ensure the delivery and development of high quality CBBC products and services in a fast paced environment. A hands-on practical approach, and an inspiring commercial strategic thinker who can creatively develop new service offerings and optimize existing ones is an essential requirement.
Skills & experience
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate GrowthWork together with CBBC senior management and East China regional network to leverage and secure commercial opportunities and advance the corporate and commercial goals of the CBBC. This would include the following areas:
- Strategy, Planning & Implementation– Providing input and taking a leadership role in both the development and implementation of segmented commercial strategies (Including: Membership, Launchpad, Sponsorship & Advertising & our full portfolio of China Gateway services);
- Membership Engagement - Manage a Premium member engagement programme, to be delivered in collaboration with Sector Leads, Chief Reps & Senior Management;
- Marketing & Communications - Support CBBC’s strategic marketing and public relations efforts in China, shaping East China regional customer insights and intelligence to help guide the CBBC marketing and communications strategy in China;
- In-Market & Reverse Client Services – Enhance a commercial portfolio for research, visits, events, UK Launchpad for Chinese partners;
New Business Development
Generating new and additional revenues to help underwrite the costs of CBBC’s regional network, including:
- Membership Growth - Grow our membership across East China;
- Product Development – Support Senior Director Business Development, China with the conceptualization of new services and diversification of existing service lines with a focus on China / In-market;
- Sales Pipeline Development – Identifying and progressing sustainable new opportunities for growth that meet the demands of our diverse membership and business needs;
- Strategic Partnership Development – Identifying and progressing relations with key strategic partners to enhance our brand perception and influence nationally;
- Business Case & Financial Modelling – Analysis of in-market opportunities and viability of implementation;
- Bidding & Fundraising – Build and support external bids for project and programme funding.
Stakeholder Relations
- Community Engagement - Developing new and deepening existing commercial relationships with corporate business partners, trade / business associations and the international business community.
- Positioning - Engage and position the CBBC prominently with key client communities.
People Management
- Leadership & Line Management – Manage a small team focussed on growing new membership and enhancing the value that we deliver to them through strategic programmes.
Skills Required
· Strong track record of developing commercial relationships with large multi-nationals and SOEs.
· Commercial acumen - Excellent sales and business development skills
· Excellent communication & presentation skills - able to sell complex ideas internally
· Passion and desire to succeed, hard-working and resilient
· Clear client focus and an ability to work in partnership with key stakeholders
· Fluent English and Chinese language skills
· At least 5 -7 years’ working experience in an international environment
