The Automotive Working Group is pleased to invite you to its next working group meeting, taking place on Wednesday 3 April from 10h to 12h, at the European Chamber Beijing Office.
China has made developing NEVs a top priority, and has grown to be the world’s largest NEV market supported by heavy government subsidies. While so far, NEV consumers are primarily comprised of value/licence chasers and tech fans, the dynamics of the Chinese NEV market is expected to undergo changes in the foreseeable future due to subsidy phase-out, technological advancements and premium brands entering the market. The country’s polarised consumer base will grow to be increasingly diversified, especially with buyers of premium internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles coming into play.
Against such a backdrop and in order for companies to grasp new opportunities in China’s NEV market, we will have the pleasure of welcoming Mr Shu Chang, Partner of Greater China Strategy and Operations at EY Transaction Advisory to share his main observations in regards to the next drivers of China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market, with a focus on:
- Future NEV consumer demographics, including their background, consumption habits, lifestyles and expectations for next-generation NEVs, as well as in which way consumers of the future differ from those of today;
- The new touch points and corresponding marketing mix to approach consumers of the future; and
- How to achieve better leads conversion performance through the build-up of external partnerships and internal structures.
With this occasion, we will also discuss recent policy updates, 2019 Automotive Working Group priorities and 2019/2020 Position Paper outline, and host this year’s Chair elections. The Chair shall play a key role in driving the development of the Group. With support from the Chamber secretariat, he or she shall promote the Group’s activities and communicate targeted messages on behalf of industry to policy makers and key stakeholders in China and Europe. The Chair shall also serve as spokesperson to raise the Group’s visibility in the media and at relevant events when appropriate. The Vice Chairs shall play a supporting role to the Chair of the Group. The Vice Chairs assist the Chair when needed in driving the development of the Group and can also represent the Group in communicating messages to policy makers and stakeholders in China and Europe.
