When should you arbitrate? How can you avoid pitfalls? Join the European Chamber and China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) on Thursday, 18th July from 16:00 to 18:15 in our Beijing offices to discuss arbitration rules in China and how they have changed.
CIETAC brought into effect a number of amendments to its arbitration rules on 1st May, 2012. The new provisions contain numerous amendments aimed at addressing the concerns of parties, including foreign parties, and bring CIETAC’s rules further into line with those of leading international arbitration institutions.
Leading the presentation will be Mr YU Jianlong, Secretary General of CIETAC, Ms WANG Jie, Director of CIETAC and Ms LU Fei, Manager of Case Registration Department.

Mr. Yu Jianlong, Secretary General of CIETAC
Mr. Yu Jianlong is Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission(CIETAC), Vice Chairman of the China Maritime Arbitration Commission(CMAC). He also serves as Vice Chairman of the China Academy of Arbitration Law, Vice Chairman of the China Institute of Private International Law, and Vice Chairman of the Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group. He has a PHD degree in law and an EMBA degree.
Ms. WANG Jie, Director of CIETAC
Ms. WANG Jie is a director of CIETAC and has many years of experience in international commercial arbitration.
Ms. WANG Jie joined the CIETAC in 1996 as the head of the International Case Department, where she led a group of case-managers helping arbitral tribunals administering arbitration proceedings. She became a CIETAC panel-arbitrator in 1999. Since then, she has chaired the CIETAC arbitral tribunals or served as sole arbitrator in about 100 arbitration cases. Most of her cases involved disputes of intellectual property, joint ventures and international sale of goods. Ms. Wang has also represented the CIETAC at many international conferences on arbitration as speaker/moderator, including the IBA 8th Annual Corporate Counsel Conference (2009), the New York Bar Association Sydney Conference (2010), the 6th International Conference of the Spanish Club of Arbitration (2011), the International Arbitration Seminar by The General Council of the Bar of England & Wales (2011), and the 1st International Arbitration Congress by the Barcelona Bar Association (2012).
Ms. LU Fei, Manger of Case Registration Department, CIETAC
Ms. Lu Fei started her arbitration experience with CIETAC in 2003 as a case manager, assisting the arbitral tribunals to administer case proceedings. She has administered over 140 domestic and international cases of different dispute natures and has worked with arbitrators from different jurisdictions. She also had experience of cases applying other arbitration rules than CIETAC Rules.
Ms. Lu Fei worked from 2007 to 2009 in the Business Development Division of CIETAC, being responsible for promotion activities of CIETAC besides administering cases. She has helped with the organization of many big events and the coordination with overseas professionals and institutions.
Since 2010, she has been working in the Case Filing Division of CIETAC, where she is designated to handle the acceptance of arbitration cases and consultation by the parties.
Ms. Lu Fei is also a member of the Award Scrutiny Group of CIETAC, scrutinizing the arbitral awards and the jurisdictional decision.
