Mr. Xingdong Chen
Chen Xingdong, was born in 1960. He graduated from Peking University with a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Economics in 1983 and 1985 respectively. He studied macroeconomics at Oxford University as a visiting postgraduate from 1986-1988.
Early in his career, Chen worked for the World Bank in both Beijing and Washington DC, and was the economist and section chief of the Economic Reform Commission of the PRC’s State Council, participating in a series of China’s opening-up and reform policy formulation and implementation. Since leaving the public sector Chen has worked in the investment banking industry for more than 25 years. Since 1998, he has worked as the Managing Director, Chief China Economist, Chief Representative of BNP Paribas Equities Beijing Rep Office, head of GM Macroeconomic Research, head of GM Research and a member of the GM Research Executive Committee.
Mr Chen was recognised as the Chief Economist of the Year (2016) by China Financial Value Ranking; the best China Economist by Asiamoney (2001), and as the cover-page figure by the PBOC magazine of China Finance (Feb 2017). He frequently gives presentations to conferences, forums and seminars on thematic topics and is a guest professor at the School of Economics of Peking University, and at the School of Financial Study of the China Political and Legal University.
Mr. Arthur Kroeber
Arthur co-founded the China-focused research service Dragonomics in Beijing in 2002 and is the editor-in-chief of China Economic Quarterly. Since Dragonomics' 2011 merger with Gavekal Research he has been head of research for the combined operation. Before founding Dragonomics, he was from 1987 to 2002 a journalist specializing in Asian economic affairs, and reported from China, India, Pakistan and other Asian countries. He has published widely in newspapers, magazines and academic journals, and is a fellow of the Brookings-Tsinghua Center in Beijing.
Mr. Tom Orlik
Mr Tom Orlik is Bloomberg’s Chief Asia Economist based in Beijing. He leads a team providing in-depth analysis of Asia macroeconomic data and policies, and how they will impact financial markets globally. His personal research is focused mainly on China.
Previously, Mr Orlik was the chief China economics correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, and China economist for Stone & McCarthy Research Associates. Prior to coming to China, he was an advisor to the UK Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund and policy analyst at the British Treasury. He is the author of Understanding China’s Economic Indicators, the definitive guide to working with China’s economic data.
Mr Orlik has a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and a bachelor’s degree in English from University College London.
Mr. Matthew Miller
Matthew Miller is a senior correspondent with Reuters News based in Beijing, reporting on financial services and corporate news. For more than 20 years, Matt has worked in China and Hong Kong as a reporter with various media companies. He was among the first foreign correspondents to be stationed in Shanghai, and later was named the first English-language correspondent to be accredited by the Chinese government in Guangdong province. Matt earlier worked at Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd. In 2016, Matt shared the Best Reporting award from SABEW Canada for his coverage of Bombardier.
